Beginning October 12, Dallas will be reading Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea, a story about a besieged Mexican village without any men and a group of young women who go to the United States looking for defenders, learning truths about themselves along the way.
The Big Read kicks off Saturday, October 12, 1 p.m. at the Pleasant Grove Branch. “A Celebration of Mexico” will include a performance by Alma y Corazon Ballet Folklorico, the story of Frida Kahlo, music by Natalie Robles and a keynote presentation by Nicolas Hernandez from RAICES.
