Join us for an enlightening journey as we delve into the profound narratives of Black history through a book study roundtable. These conversational, online sessions will focus discussions around The Accommodation a compelling exploration of pivotal moments and figures that shaped the African American experience. It is a powerful, long-repressed classic of Dallas history which examines the violent and suppressed history of race and racism in the city in which many of us live. Written by longtime Dallas political journalist Jim Schutze, formerly of the Dallas Times Herald and Dallas Observer, and currently columnist at D Magazine, The Accommodation follows the story of Dallas from slavery throughthe Civil Rights Movement, and the city’s desegregation efforts in the 1950s and ‘60s.
