A Letter from Our New Senior Warden

What a joyous week it has been for St. Thomas! It is not often that we are privileged to witness a long-standing wrong being made right, but that is exactly what occurred at the Marriage Celebration this last Sunday. In the sanctuary, in front of the altar, we celebrated the sacramental grace of Holy Matrimony for eighteen parishioners in a same sex marriage.

Thanks to Mother Joy, Father Leo and the many parishioners who devoted hours of preparation to the service and spectacular reception. Then, on Wednesday, we hosted friends and family members of Pat Vaughan in a wonderful celebration of her life and ministry. These two opportunities to “show off” our loving parish family and beautiful sanctuary have created excellent momentum to carry us into this new year.

Our work is not yet done, of course. The Vestry will be reflecting on goals for the coming year during our retreat on February 1-2, which will be led by the Very Rev. Dr. Neal O. Michell. Please speak with a Vestry member or send me an email if you have any thoughts about things that should be addressed by the Vestry.

Nancy LeGros, Senior Warden
